Rodong Sinmun in its editorial says that President Kim Il Sung founded the Korean People's Revolutionary Army on April 25, Juche 21 (1932), an epoch-making event of fundamental significance in building the Korean revolutionary armed forces and carving out the destiny of the nation.

It goes on:

Since he embarked on the road of the revolution the President always gave priority to the armed forces and opened up the way for victory depending on the might of the army.

True to the President's Songun idea, our army has, since its birth, displayed matchless heroism in the grave class struggle and anti-imperialist revolutionary wars and creditably carried out its mission as core ranks and driving force of the revolution in every period and at every stage of developing revolution.

The KPA, which recorded the ever-victorious history under the Songun leadership of the President, is playing the vanguard role in the struggle to carry forward the Juche cause upholding the Songun politics of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Our army has advanced along the militant course of victory and glory for nearly 80 years since it made the first gun report in the forest of Mt. Paektu under the great banner of Songun. This was possible because the army fully inherited the idea, will, spirit and disposition of Kim Il Sung, brilliant commander of Mt. Paektu, and Kim Jong Il, supreme commander of the KPA, and has worked as a vanguard detachment of the commanders of Mt. Paektu.

No matter how much water may flow under the bridge and how many generations are altered, the revolutionary character of the KPA as the army of the leader and the supreme commander will remain unchanged.

The KPA fully equipped with the idea of Kim Jong Il, illustrious commander of Mt. Paektu, is displaying the might of the strongest and elite army, winning victories encouraged by his pluck and spirit and pushing forward the revolution and construction the way he does.

The KPA will as ever successfully fulfill the honorable mission and duty as the core of the Korean revolutionary ranks and militant lifeguards in accomplishing the noble cause for opening up the rosy future of the Songun revolution true to the intention and will of the commanders of Mt. Paektu.

Minju Joson in its editorial stresses that the Songun revolutionary cause of the Workers' Party of Korea is invincible as the KPA, which has grown into the strong and matchless revolutionary army in the course of 70 odd years of protracted struggle under the legendary great persons of Mt. Paektu, is standing in the van of the revolution.
