Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the newly built soil-type pollution-free greenhouse at Wonsan University of Agriculture. This ultra-modern greenhouse where all aspects of management and operation including the regulation of light, temperature and humidity are automatically controlled is a gift given by him to the teaching staff and students of the university out of his loving care. He looked round the inside and outside of the greenhouse to learn in detail about its construction and use. He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that soldier builders successfully constructed the highly automated modern greenhouse in a brief span of time and highly appreciated their feats. He underscored the need to conduct brisk researches into the cultivation of crops in the greenhouse and indicated the tasks and ways to do so. Walking the compound of the university getting thick with fresh verdure, he learned in detail about the work to turn the area around it into greenery and thick woodland. He said that the proud appearance of the university which set a good example in the above-said work is the fruition of noble patriotism fully displayed by its teachers and students for years, calling on all units including universities to follow this example. Wonsan University of Agriculture has an important role to play in the development of the nation's agriculture, he said, setting forth important tasks which would serve as guidelines for teaching and education and scientific researches. Thanks to the energetic endeavors made by the university to implement the theses on the socialist education authored by President Kim Il Sung, Juche has been firmly established in education and its quality improved and its material and technical foundation consolidated, he noted, stressing that these shining achievements made in education are associated with all the unknown efforts made by the educators for the education of the younger generation. Noting that the university has a heavy task to put the education and the training of agro-technicians and experts on a higher level to meet the fresh requirements of the Korean revolution, he underscored the need to train students in such a way as to help them make a better contribution to the nation's scientific and technological development and the socialist economic construction. In order to bring about a new turn in training agro-technicians it is necessary to consolidate the scientific research centers including greenhouses, conduct research work under a long-term plan and pay deep attention to the work and life of the teaching staff and the students, he stressed. He was accompanied by Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the C.C., the WPK, and Jang Song Thaek and Pak Nam Gi, department directors of the C.C., the WPK. |
