Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to different fields in Wonsan City. He first went round the statue of President Kim Il Sung standing at Haean Square before visiting the Museum of President Kim Il Sung's Revolutionary Activities in Kangwon Province. Looking round the materials on those revolutionary activities with deep emotion, he said that the land of Kangwon Province has turned into a land of bliss for people under the wise leadership of the President and his meticulous care, underscoring the need to repay the great benevolence of the President with loyalty. Noting that the museum is one of the important centers for education to arm party members and other working people, servicepersons and school youth and children with the revolutionary idea of the WPK, he indicated tasks to be fulfilled to manage and operate the museum and strengthen the education through it and ways to do so. Then he gave field guidance to the city management of Wonsan and the Songdowon Open-Air Theatre while making the round of Wonsan City. He expressed satisfaction over the fact that the city has energetically pushed forward the construction under a long-term plan and improved its management, making its streets look beautiful to meet the needs of socialism. It is necessary to pay special attention to the management of Wonsan City as it is the city both Koreans and foreigners like to visit, he said, stressing the need to manage all buildings and streets as required by people's culture and emotion and their beautiful manners and customs so that it may take on more perfect looks as a modern port city. He looked round the Songdowon Open-Air Theatre on the seaside to acquaint himself with its use. He underscored the need to spruce up the theatre as a modern one as it is associated with the revolutionary activities of the President and conduct brisk diverse political and cultural activities there for the purpose of turning it into a place for educating youngsters and working people. In the evening he commanded a bird's-eye view of Wonsan City bright with peculiar light decorations. Watching the attractive appearance of the brightly lit city for a long while, he expressed great satisfaction with the successful completion of light decorations. Saying how nice it is to see the electrification realized in Wonsan City by use of electricity produced by the power station built by the city on its own, he wished its citizens, pace-setters in self-reliance, a happy life as they enjoy pleasure through hard work. Noting that it is necessary to further develop forms and methods of the light decoration as required by the developing reality to provide people with best conditions for a cultural and emotional life, he specified ways to do so. He highly praised the working people in Wonsan for their feats, saying that they achieved shining successes in all aspects in recent years, thus powerfully demonstrating the great mental power of the indomitable Korean people. He expressed expectation and conviction that they would continue to play a vanguard role in the great drive for building a great prosperous powerful nation with the same vim and vigor. He was accompanied by Ri Chol Bong, chief secretary of the Kangwon Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the C.C., the WPK, and Jang Song Thaek and Choe Ik Gyu, department directors of the C.C., the WPK, and Ri Je Gang and Ri Jae Il, first vice department directors of the C.C., the WPK. |
