24th National Scientific and Technological Festival Closes
Pyongyang, April 28 (KCNA) -- The 24th national scientific and technological festival which was opened on April 22 closed with due ceremony at the Three-Revolution Exhibition on Tuesday.

The festival was held, divided into 21 panels including metal, electric, coal, railway transport, machine, construction and building materials, agricultural production, light industry, biology and chemistry.

Scientists, technicians, working people and officials presented more than 680 data of successful researches and introduction conducive to solving scientific and technological problems arising in the building of an economic power.

The participants in the festival widely exchanged significant scientific and technological successes and experience in strengthening the Juche character of the national economy, stepping up the drive to put it on modern and IT basis and developing the IT, Nano technology and biological engineering, core basic technologies.

Five participants in the festival won best prizes and 58 participants received prizes for the first place.

Present at the closing ceremony were Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, O Su Yong, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Kim Yong Jin, minister of Education, Pyon Yong Rip, president of the State Academy of Sciences, and others.

Choe Sang Gon, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea, made a closing speech at the ceremony.
