Rodong Sinmun on DPRK's Political Decision Not to Participate in Six-party Talks

Pyongyang, April 29 (KCNA) -- It was an entirely just exercise of the sovereignty that the DPRK made a crucial political decision that it would not participate in the six-party talks under any circumstances but bolster its self-defensive nuclear deterrent in every way, bitterly condemning the brigandish "presidential statement" of the UNSC.

Rodong Sinmun Wednesday declares this in a signed commentary.

It goes on:

The decision fully reflected the revolutionary will and principle of the DPRK to protect its dignity and interests, independence and justice.

Forces hostile to the DPRK such as the U.S. and Japan are letting loose a spate of remarks critical of the DPRK's satellite launch for peaceful purposes. This goes to prove that everything is going well in the DPRK and its satellite launch is of weighty significance. It also indicates that the forces are greatly taken aback by the national power of the DPRK.

It is a very narrow-minded view to misrepresent the crucial measure taken by the DPRK as brinkmanship and an action to pressurize someone.

The U.S. and its followers should be held entirely responsible for having left indelible disgrace and stain again on the history of the UN by violating the principle of respect for the sovereignty and the impartiality, the life and soul of the UNSC and a fundamental cornerstone of its activities.

The U.S. and other forces hostile to the DPRK are busing themselves with the activities to bring the six-party talks back on track, regarding it as an urgent job. But it is no use crying over spilt milk. The DPRK does not feel any need to have anymore the six-party talks bereft of the spirit of respect for sovereignty and equal sovereignty enshrined in the September 19 joint statement for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, talks aimed to infringe upon the sovereignty of the DPRK and disarm it.

As proven by the recent situation, the escalating smear campaign of the hostile forces against the DPRK and their moves to lay an international siege to it will never help settle issues but only make the situation more complicated.

The above-said forces are sadly mistaken if they calculate they can bring the DPRK to its knees and exact any concession through their escalating pressure and sanctions against it.

The DPRK declares once again that it will never participate in the six-party talks but bolster its nuclear deterrent in everyway in order to defend the security of the country and accomplish the revolutionary cause of Songun.
