In the contest the national records were renewed in ten subdivided events of shooting, weightlifting and swimming.

The April 25 Sports Team won the men's football title and the men's and women's volleyball and field hockey titles while the Rimyongsu Sports Team the women's football title.

The Sobaeksu Sports Team and the Amnokgang Sports Team respectively came first in the men's and women's basketball events, the Pyongyang Sports Team and the Rimyongsu Sports Team in the men's and women's table tennis team events and the Ryesonggang Sports Team and the Sports Team of Pyongyang University of Medicine in the men's and women's handball events.

Present at the closing ceremony were Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned and sportspersons.

Addressing the ceremony, Pak Hak Son, chairman of the Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission, called upon all players and coaches to fully display the national flag of the DPRK in every international tournament on the basis of their achievements and experience made in the contest.
