The statement said:

The group mobilized a huge police force to brutally suppress and arrest hundreds of participants in the "May Day All-People Meeting" attended by more than 50,000 persons including members of at least 500 civic and public organizations and political parties including the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and citizens on May Day and a 100-day mourning service held by people of different strata for the evacuees in Ryongsan, Seoul who were cruelly killed while struggling to protect their cradle after branding them as "illegal" actions.

The above-said suppression was a fascist action and a crime against people of all strata including workers who turned out in the struggle for new democratic politics and new life.

The popular struggle that raged in south Korea on the occasion of May Day was an eruption of the pent-up grudge and resentment of all people at the group of traitors who imposed unbearable misfortune and pain upon them and drove the inter-Korean relations to the worst phase.

It was quite natural and just for the people of all strata in south Korea including workers to have turned out in the anti-"government" actions in its different parts, holding high the slogans such as "No conclusion of south Korea-U.S. FTA!", "Settle Ryongsan tragedy!" "No enactment of 'Lee Myung Bak evil laws'!", "Push forward south-north dialogue and proposal for cooperation!" and "Lee Myung Bak regime step down!"

The fascist suppression by the group will only trigger off stronger resistance of the people as it is nothing but the death-bed frenzy of the doomed.

The group should stop at once suppressing the people of various strata in their struggle for democratic freedom and rights and immediately release the arrested people.
