Pyongyang, May 5 (KCNA) -- The commander of the U.S. forces in south Korea, recently let loose a spate of balderdash that "the U.S. is firmly committed to providing a nuclear umbrella" to south Korea and "'OPLAN 5029' would be rounded off," claiming that the U.S.-south Korea "treaty of mutual defense" signed in 1953 will remain valid though the "right to command wartime operations" is transferred to south Korea. He went the lengths of blustering that the U.S. forces are "maintaining a prompt combat posture" to cope with someone's "emergency situation." Commenting on his utterances, news analyst of Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says: Lurking behind his reckless remarks is the intention of the U.S. to step up the preparations for a war against the DPRK, keeping its forces in south Korea even after the above-said right is transferred to the south Korean puppets. The military nexus between the U.S. and the south Korean puppets is getting closer with the above-mentioned transfer as a momentum, the news analyst notes, and goes on: By tightening this military nexus the U.S. bellicose forces seek to achieve its criminal purpose of instigating the south Korean puppets to commit military provocations against the DPRK and igniting a new all-out war on the Korean Peninsula under this pretext. It is the scenario of the U.S. imperialists to neutralize the DPRK's capability for military operations through surprise indiscriminate preemptive strikes in "contingency" on the Korean Peninsula and conclude the second Korean war by waging a blitz with huge U.S. reinforcements including rapid task forces from the Pacific region and the U.S. mainland involved. The commander of the U.S. forces in south Korea put pressure on the DPRK to dismantle its nuclear weapons while crying out for "rounding off" their scenario for a war of aggression against it and providing a "nuclear umbrella" to south Korea. This is little short of demanding the DPRK lay down arms and sit idle. Now that the hostile forces have more clearly revealed their design to seize the DPRK by force of arms it is compelled to bolster up its nuclear deterrent. The U.S. bellicose forces would be well advised to behave themselves, clearly understanding who their rival is. |
