Present at the symposium were Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, members of the Cabinet, officials in the fields of architecture, construction and building materials industry in Pyongyang and local areas, designers, technicians, teachers, researchers and creators.

The symposium listened to speeches made by Pae Tal Jun, minister of State Construction Control, Ri Ju Ul, director of the City Designing Research Institute in South Hamgyong Province, Kim Myong Gol, director of the Paektusan Architectural Institute, Kim Ung Gwan, minister of Capital City Construction, Ri Paek Ha, vice-minister of Construction and Building-Materials Industry, Kim Song Min, vice-director of the Mansudae Art Studio, Pae Tong Il, rector of Pyongyang University of Construction and Building-Materials Industry, and Sim Yong Hak, vice-minister of State Construction Control.

Speakers introduced achievements and experience gained in the recent reconstruction and renovation of various buildings, true to the Juche-based architectural idea of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

They explained the theoretical and practical issues arising in successfully building all structures into monumental edifices in the era of Songun including the issue of further developing architecture and construction in line with the world trend and the specific conditions of Korea.
