Pyongyang, May 5 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League released a statement on Tuesday denouncing the Lee Myung Bak group for brutally suppressing the youth and students of south Korea who turned out in the struggle against the unpopular policy and fascist rule of the ruling quarters and their flunkeyism and treachery and anti-reunification moves in connection with the lapse of 100 days since the tragic killing of evacuees in Ryongsan, on the occasion of May Day and one year since the candlelight action.
The statement branded the group's wholesale suppression of the youth and students who participated in the demonstration and rally as a blatant challenge to the desire of the south Korean youth and students to bring their noble ideal and desire into full bloom in a new independent and democratic society and unpardonable violation of democracy and human rights.
It accused the Lee group of not only trampling down upon the freedom and right of the youth and students to learn but indiscriminately cracking down upon those desirous of national reunification on the charge of violating the "National Security Law" and incriminating and blocking the contacts and exchanges between the youth and students in the north and the south.
There can be neither genuine life nor hopeful future for the youth and students in south Korea as long as the Lee group of traitors to the nation is allowed to stay in power contrary to the times and the aspiration of the nation, the statement noted, calling upon the south Korean youth and students to unite close as one with the people from all walks of life and wage a more vigorous struggle to settle accounts with the Lee group just as they put strong impetus to the movement for independence, democracy and reunification by playing the roles of torches that sparked off the April 19 and October popular resistances, the Kwangju Popular Uprising and the June Popular Resistance.
The Lee group should stop at once the suppression of the youth and students, aware that its frantic fascist suppression would only precipitate its self-destruction.
