Pak Myong Su, vice-chairman of the State Emergency Anti-epidemic Commission, had an interview with KCNA regarding the state measures taken against A/H1N1 flu.

Reporter: Would you tell me about the state measures taken against A/H1N1 influenza spreading widely in Mexico, the United States and many other countries?

Vice-chairman: For the present, the foreigners entering our country, especially those from the outbreak areas, are strictly quarantined in the frontier and those who are suspected to have been infected are under medical surveillance in isolation until they have been confirmed.

Along with this, an emergency measure is being taken to store anti-virus medicines to cope with the possible outbreak of the disease. The check-up of pork and its products, to say nothing of wild boars, is being strengthened as never before.

Research to develop vaccine is being pushed ahead forcefully at the same time.

Meanwhile, TVs and publications inform the people of details of A/H1N1 flu outbreak in various countries and its situation in time.

Medical workers keep in touch with the residents in charge almost every day to check up them and bring home hygienic information such as common sense of the influenza and prevention methods to them.

A diagnosis system for distinguishing common cold from the A/H1N1 influenza has been established and a system to report the outbreak of disease has also been set up from the centre down to the local areas.
