Suppression of Progressive Parties and Organizations in S. Korea under Fire

Pyongyang, May 10 (KCNA) -- On May 7 the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors in south Korea mobilized the puppet Intelligence Service and the police to make a surprise search of the house of the chairman for policy-making of the Kangwon Provincial Committee of the Democratic Labor Party and confiscate a computer and publications, etc. It also conducted a simultaneous operation of search into the offices of the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon) and its regional headquarters, the North Chungchong Provincial Federation of the south Korean Federation of Peasants Associations, the North Chungchong Provincial Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration, the Council of Youth Organizations in south Korean Kangwon Province, etc. and the houses of their leading members and committed such fascist violence as arresting and detaining the core members of those organizations.

In this regard a spokesman for the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party released a statement on Saturday.

The said repressive campaign, reminiscent of a military operation, is a deliberate wholesale strangling operation to totally eliminate the pro-reunification democratic forces in south Korea by groundlessly linking them with the DPRK, the statement said, denouncing it as a blatant challenge to the aspiration and desire of the south Korean people for new politics, which calls for respecting the will and interests of the working masses, and the independent reunification of the nation as well as intolerable provocation to the DPRK.

It further said:

The conservative ruling forces cracked down without reason even upon the DLP, a legal progressive political party representing the will of the workers, peasants and other working popular masses. This is a hair-raising atrocity of the rough political gangsters to brutally trample down upon the activities of the party after labeling them as "illegal".

The Lee group is sadly mistaken if it thinks it can deceive the public and build up an opinion that the present political and economic crisis going from bad to worse in south Korea and the towering resistance and wrath of the people from all walks of life toward the conservative ruling forces are caused by the pro-reunification patriotic forces.

The flames of the anti-"government" struggle raging across south Korea are an inevitable result of traitor Lee Myung Bak's wicked unpopular rule.

The south Korean people have already sentenced the group of traitors to death.

Traitor Lee should be well aware of what miserable end the groups of traitors in the past met after strangling democracy and checking the independent reunification in south Korea.
