Ri Je Ok, a room chief of the Plant Protection Institute, told about a successful test for increasing the effect of extermination of harmful insects by their natural enemies and its application.

The institute achieved sizable results last year by introducing a new method of exterminating harmful insects.

With the expansion of the research results, it is planning to lift this domain to the advanced level in the future, while intensifying international exchange and cooperation.

The academy has also made a big stride in researches for improving the method of hydroponic production of pure seed potato.

Full-scale researches have been made to establish a system of seed potato production mainly by hydroponic cultivation on a more solid foundation and expand it on seed farms, and a cultivation base large in scale has been created in this course.

Successes have also been made in other researches into seed potato production.

And new agrochemicals, which are highly effective in the extermination of harmful insects, while friendly to ecological environment ,and convenient for carriage, storage and use, have been developed and put into trial production.
