The three commanders of Mt. Paektu were awarded the honorary citizenship by the Pampas District Office of Tayacaja City, Huancavelica Province, Peru, and General Secretary Kim Jong Il was awarded the honorary title "Creator of Peace in the 21st Century" and the Order "Creator of Peace" first class by the Russian Federation of International Charity Organizations "World of Goodwill" and the honorary citizenship by Cotopaxi Province, Ecuador, on the occasion of the significant April holidays.

Kim Jong Il was presented with gifts by the president of the Vladivostok City Assembly and the mayor of Robnya City of Moscow Region in Russia and the mayor of Yangon City of Myanmar, the Syrian minister of Information and the economic delegation of the Vietnamese government, expressing their best wishes for him.

Functions were held by the Organization of Solidarity of the Peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America and at Kim Il Sung Economic Special School of Cuba to lay floral baskets before the beaming images of President Kim Il Sung.

Floral baskets and bouquets were laid before the portraits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and full-length figure pictures of the peerlessly great men standing together displayed in DPRK missions abroad on behalf of political parties, ministries of governments, organizations and figures from all walks of life in relevant countries and regions.

The Mexican National Coordinating Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, the Nigerian Group for Self-Reliance Studies, the Guarico State, Venezuela, Group for the Study of the Juche Idea and the African Taekwon-Do Federation were formed and at least 350 political and cultural events were held in more than 80 countries and at international and regional organizations in the significant month of April.

Publishing House of Peru, the Dar Al-Shaab Publishing House of Egypt, the Struggle for the Peace and Socialism of Italy, the Bulgaria-Korea Friendship Association, the U.S. Group for the Study of Songun Politics, the Costa Rican Institute for the Study of the Juche Idea, the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ray, the Cambodian newspaper Kmae Amata and other newspapers and broadcasting services published or reported immortal famous works of the peerlessly great persons and brief biographies of their revolutionary activities.

Kim Jong Il received congratulatory messages from heads of political parties and state including the general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the second secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Russian president, the Mongolian president, the coordinator of the National Coordinating Committee of the Workers' Party of Mexico and the general secretary of the Al Ahd al Watani Party of Syria on his reelection as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission at the 1st session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly. Floral baskets were presented to him by the Chinese government and the Syrian minister of Defence on the same occasion.
