Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- It happened one winter day of Juche 29 (1940) when the main unit of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army was marching to the boarder area along the River Tuman under the command of President Kim Il Sung. The unit passed through a deep valley and went over a steep mountain before it crossed a frozen river. Standing on the shore, the President gave precaution to the guerrillas and helped them to step on the ice by taking each man by hand. Then a young orderly slipped and fell down on the ice. The moment he watched his rifle and wrapped his face with two hands. His rifle-stock was broken. The President hurried to him and said with worry that it might be caused because of killing languor and a rest should be given to the men. Therefore, the unit set tents for rest. Without resting for a while, the President ordered the machine-gun platoon leader to bring a tool bag and told in a gentle voice the orderly to show him the rifle. After closely examining the broken rifle-stock without any words, he repaired the stock by heating iron-wire in a campfire and hammering iron-wire on it. The hammering sound filled the hearts of guerrillas with the paternal love of the President. |
