Speakers at the rally said that the suppression of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon, a legitimate organization for the reunification movement, clearly proves that the Lee Myung Bak "government" is becoming evermore undisguised in its moves to escalate the confrontation with the DPRK.

They charged that the authorities' suppression is an intolerable challenge to the ardent desire of all Koreans in the south and the north and abroad for independent reunification and a criminal act of totally denying the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.

They declared they can never pardon the Lee Myung Bak "government" which mobilized even the "Intelligence Service" for suppressing the reunification movement of the said headquarters on the charge of being "an enemy-benefiting organization" and has stretched the tentacles of crackdown to other organizations.

A resolution read out at the rally said: The present "government" is suppressing the progressive organizations on charges of violation of the ill-famed "National Security Law" after labeling all the personages of conscience critical of it "criminals." Not content with this, it is keen to bring the charge of "espionage" to those forces for the reunification movement struggling to defend and implement the historic south-north joint declarations.

All the people aspiring after social progress, independence, democracy and reunification will get united and wage a valiant struggle to force Lee Myung Bak to step down, it stressed.
