Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- The British Association for the Study of Songun Policy and the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea made public a joint statement on May 16 in denunciation of the south Korean authorities' crackdown upon the progressive forces and in support of the south Korean people's cause of justice. Expressing indignation at the south Korean authorities' brutal suppression of the South Headquarters of Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon), the statement said: It is a blatant challenge to the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and a fascist deed designed to block the south Korean people's independent movement for the reunification and stifle the progressive forces under the pretext of "elimination of the pro-north leftist forces." The Lee Myung Bak "government" is a downright puppet regime as it is persistently curbing Korea's independent reunification and turning south Korea into a more dependent colony of the U.S. imperialists. We scathingly denounce the Lee group's fascist crackdown upon the progressive patriotic forces. May 18 marks the 29th anniversary of the heroic Kwangju popular uprising, the statement noted, and went on: The uprising was an all-people resistance against the U.S. imperialists' policy of neo-colonial domination over south Korea and the Chun Doo Hwan military fascist dictatorial regime, and it was a heroic action registered as a brilliant chapter in the history of the south Korean people's struggle for independence, democracy and reunification. The uprising greatly encouraged the people of developing countries in the struggle against imperialism and for national liberation. We will remember the uprisers, and call upon the world's progressive people to struggle against the Lee group of south Korea. |
