Mountain-climbing Routes of Mt. Myohyang Tell Warm Affection

Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- Mountaineers are found on the sightseeing roads leading to the top of Mt. Myohyang, a famous mountain of Korea. Walking along the routes extending a total of over 68 kilometers, which lead to the Manphok Ravine, the Sangwon Hermitage, Piro Peak area and other places, they with deep emotion recollect the warm affection shown for the people by General Secretary Kim Jong Il who clearly indicated the orientation and ways for the building of the beauty spot, making around of Mt. Myohyang for days in May Juche 70 (1981). He solved the issues arising in mountaineering down to details and designated the sightseeing periods, routes and lodging and boarding places according to groups of people. He took the lead in exploring the precipice lanes lack of safety facilities and steps, with the result that over 24 kilometer-long mountaineering paths came into being in the Piro Peak area. Under his meticulous care, the sightseeing routes to Popwang Peak via Sangwon Ravine, to the Kuchung (Nine-Storeyed) Falls via the cliff road of the Manphok Ravine, to the Isonnam Falls in the Hapiro area via the stream flowing in the Chilsong Ravine and to Piro Peak via Jungpiro were laid and a total of 4,000-odd meters of safety chain handrails were installed. Various shapes of bridges and over 14,000 steps were built in different places of sightseeing routes and more than 1,500 footholds on rocky roads. And many pavilions and resting sites including Oson Pavilion, Hyangro Pavilion, Undok Pavilion, Pison Pavilion, Sonnam Pavilion and Piromun Resting Site made their appearance. Many a working people from all walks of life, school youth and children, overseas Koreans and foreigners have expedited the mountain over last decades. They were deeply moved by the love shown by Kim Jong Il for the people. |
