Pyongyang, June 2 (KCNA) -- A lecture of Koreans in Japan was given in Tokyo on May 27 on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration under the sponsorship of the Association for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country. It was attended by Koreans in Japan and south Korean students studying in Japan. Kang Jong Hon, representative of the "Institute for South Korean Studies," said in a lecture that the inter-Korean relations which had favorably developed as the days go by thanks to the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration have now reached the worst phase due to the hostile policy toward the DPRK pursued by the Lee Myung Bak "government," ignoring the said declarations and refusing to implement them under the pretext of the "lost decade." He assailed the Lee "government" for not only advocating "no nukes, opening and 3,000 dollars" for the purpose of pressurizing the north, regarding cooperation with foreign forces more important than national cooperation, but bringing the inter-Korean relations back to those in the past era of confrontation while calling for "unification under the liberal democratic system." In order to improve the south-north relations it is necessary to take practical measures for developing cooperation and exchange with the north, he noted, adding: Taking issue with the north's underground nuclear test, the U.S. and its followers are resorting to the moves to apply sanctions against it. This situation can be settled only through dialogue and negotiation based on the fair stand. The struggle to put an end to the history of colonial domination and national division alone can guarantee the life and rights of the Koreans in Japan, he stressed, calling on the Koreans to actively turn out in the work to carve out the future of a reunified country. |
