Pyongyang, June 4 (KCNA) -- A commutator brush for rotary electric machines made with natural graphite abundant in the country has been developed in the DPRK to be widely used. It is a precious achievement conducive to putting fresh muscles into the Juche character and independence of graphite industry. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the European Patent Office recognized the brush developed in the DPRK to be a new scientific and technical achievement and registered it as an European patent. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) adopted the standard of the brush as the commission's standard of common use "IEC/PAS 62072". The natural graphite brush is 1.5 times the artificial graphite brush made in other countries in resistance to bending and 1.4 times in hardness and its resistivity is a quarter and volumetric weight one-fifth of the latter. Yet there is no change in physical and mechanical quality in operation. It is about two-thirds of the artificial one in production processes and yet gives no effect on ecological environment. It can be used not only as a brush for the large-size thermal power generator but also one for the traction electromotor of heavy power and for the gas turbogenerator with a rotational speed 9,000r/min. It is drawing international attention for causing no environmental pollution in production and usage. |
