Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to industrial establishments in Tanchon City. The first leg of his guidance was the Tanchon Magnesia Factory. He looked round the monument to the on-the-spot guidance provided by President Kim Il Sung and the room dedicated to the history of the factory. Recollecting with deep emotion the shining path covered by the factory, he said that the factory has turned into a large comprehensive refractory production base under the wise leadership and meticulous care of the President, adding that his immortal revolutionary exploits would shine long in the history of the country. He acquainted himself with the technical equipment and production at the factory, going round the melting shop and other production processes. He highly praised the workers of the factory for their achievements made in the past, expressing great satisfaction over the fact that they have steadily increased the production of quality magnesia clinker through their tenacious efforts, always bearing deep in mind the President's last instructions on developing the Juche-based magnesia clinker industry in a big way, and thus made a great contribution to the development of the nation's industry and put the production of magnesia clinker on a Juche basis, in particular. The magnesia clinker industry in the DPRK established by the President has a very bright prospect of development as it is based on inexhaustible raw materials and resources, high technology and rich experience, he noted, underscoring the need to continue intensifying scientific researches into this field, meticulously organize the production and boost the production of a variety of refractory and light burned magnesia. The second leg of his guidance was the Tanchon Smeltery reconstructed on a modern basis. After being briefed on the technological issues solved by the smeltery by itself, he went round the combined production control room and other places to learn about the production there in detail. He highly praised its workers for their feats, expressing great satisfaction over the fact that they have made remarkable technological progress through a brisk technical innovation movement in the wake of their successful construction of the ultra-modern smeltery. The above-said smeltery which made a definite breakthrough towards the increased production by steadily developing technology is a model smeltery in terms of science and technology, he said, adding that its eye-opening change is a powerful demonstration of the validity and vitality of the WPK's policy on the technical revolution. He set forth tasks to be fulfilled by the smeltery, stressing that it has an important role to play in building an economic power. The last leg of his guidance was the Tanchon Mining Machine Plant. After being briefed on the plant before a huge painting showing a panoramic view of the plant, he made the rounds of the large processing shop, the indoor sheet metal processing shop and other production processes and newly built cosy-looking cultural and welfare service facilities to learn about construction and technological equipment there in detail. The workers of the plant have successfully carried out its modernization by displaying the same spirit and stamina as done when producing a lot of machine tools with empty hands in the difficult postwar period, he noted, emphasizing that this fully reflected the revolutionary spirit of the workers of the DPRK, the fighters who devotedly implement even the task of flattening a high mountain at one go, if required by the Party. Noting that the modern factories and enterprises built in Tanchon City are a miniature showing the proud appearance of the Juche-based industry which is witnessing an overall technological updating based on ultra-modern technology, he stressed that the DPRK is winning one victory after another, undeterred by any worldwide economic fluctuation and the drive for building a thriving nation is sure to win as it has a strong industrial foundation of Korean style. He was accompanied by Secretary Kim Ki Nam and Department Directors Pak Nam Gi and Jang Song Thaek of the WPK Central Committee. |
