Prof. and Dr. Gennadi Berdishev of Kiev University was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The first meeting of the preparatory committee was held in Kiev on the same day. It discussed the committee's action program for widely introducing the revolutionary career and immortal exploits of Kim Il Sung and the Songun leadership exploits of Kim Jong Il and holding such colorful political and cultural events as seminar on the Juche idea and the Songun politics, remembrance meeting, film show and Korean book, photo and handicraft exhibition till 2012.
