He, born on June 12, Juche 5 (1916), left Mangyongdae, his hometown in his early years, following his parents who carved out the road of rigorous struggle. He keenly experienced the grief and misfortune of a ruined nation in Linjiang, Badaogou, Fusong and other areas and bore deep in his heart burning hatred and spirit of resistance against the Japanese imperialists.

Bereaved of his father in his early days, he cherished the firm faith that it was the only way of achieving the liberation of the country to uphold the revolutionary cause of President Kim Il Sung and became a core member of the Saenal Children's Union formed by the President to closely rally many children with his prominent artistic attainments and brisk political activities.

True to the line of armed struggle put forward by the President, he waged a vigorous struggle to seize the enemy's arms and thus did much toward the preparation for founding the anti-Japanese guerrilla army.

He also led many Young Communist League members to join the Korean People's Revolutionary Army and volunteered the difficult work with the Chinese nationalist anti-Japanese units and did it tactfully.+

He, with warm love for the people, saved the people from the perilous state at the risk of his life by luring the Japanese imperialist "punitive" force to himself when the enemy surprised the guerrilla zone.

He displayed unrivalled bravery in the Fuerhe Battle and many other battles.
