Recalling that in June of 1987 streets of south Korea resounded with the shouts of "Down with the dictatorship!" protesting against murderer Chun Doo Hwan's tyranny, the statement said that the people's strong resistance that raged there made a new history of the struggle for democracy, dealing a telling blow at the fascist regime.

22 years have passed since then but the fascist dictatorship is reigning in this land again after murderer Lee Myung Bak came to power, it deplored, and continued:

Lee drove evacuees, a worker and even the ex-"president" and an elder pro-reunification figure to death. He is desperately pursuing confrontation with the DPRK and war moves in a bid to totally scrap the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.

The democracy which had been achieved through the June Popular Resistance has been ruthlessly violated like this because it failed to root out the pro-U.S. dictatorial forces.

The descendants of man-killing dictators are still riding roughshod in this land, the statement noted, adding that a failure to eliminate all these dictatorial forces would let this vicious cycle of evils go on.

The statement called upon all forces of the progressive camp to unite close to make a clean sweep of the dictatorial forces and intensify the struggle for implementing the June 15 joint declaration.
