Recalling that the joint declaration which calls for giving momentum to the process of north-south reconciliation and reunification in the interests of all Koreans was adopted in Pyongyang on June 15, 2000, the statement said:

The DPRK is invariably pursuing its policy for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.

No sooner had the present south Korean authorities seized power than they became undisguised in their policy of confrontation with the DPRK, pursuant to the policies of outside forces including the U.S. and Japan.

The south Korean authorities should stop at once their acts of totally denying the June 15 joint declaration.

The U.S. should stop interfering in the internal affairs of the DPRK and immediately withdraw its armed forces for aggression from south Korea and its vicinity as they pose constant threat to it.

The U.S. should roll back its hostile policy towards the DPRK at once, replace the Armistice Agreement by a peace agreement and implement DPRK-U.S. agreements.

The statement called attention to the fact that Western media are disregarding the basic interests of the whole Korean nation, while keeping mum about such important issues as the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and releasing misinformation about the situation on the Korean Peninsula instead of contributing to Korea's reunification and its peace.
