Present there were personages of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Foreign Ministry, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, the Cuban Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification and the "Chollima" Dockyard and others.

Present there on invitation were the DPRK ambassador to Cuba and staff members of the DPRK embassy.

First Vice-Chairman of the Cuban Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification Juan Jose Leon Vega in his speech recalled that under the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung the Korean People's Army and people shattered the "myth" of the mightiness of the U.S. imperialists and won brilliant victory in the three-year long Fatherland Liberation War.

Though the U.S. imperialists suffered a bitter defeat in the last Korean War, they are frantically stepping up the preparations for a war of aggression against the DPRK after deploying huge armed forces of aggression in south Korea, he said, and went on:

General Secretary Kim Jong Il, true to the behests of Kim Il Sung, is arousing all the Korean people to the struggle to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea as early as possible, frustrating every move of the U.S. imperialists.

The Cuban Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification strongly denounces the U.S. imperialists for applying double standards over the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula and driving the denuclearization of the peninsula into danger by pursuing a strong arm policy in collusion with some countries.

The Cuba-DPRK friendship provided and brought into full bloom by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and Fidel Castro Ruz and Raul Castro Ruz is as strong as steel, he stressed.
