Present there were Kim Ki Nam, Yang Hyong Sop, the chairpersons of the friendly parties, members of the North Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration and the North Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification and the Pan-national Alliance of Youth and Students for Korea's Reunification and working people in Pyongyang.

Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, made a report.

He said:

The historic Pyongyang summit and the June 15 joint declaration were the brilliant fruition of the outstanding Songun politics and the experienced and seasoned leadership of Kim Jong Il who worked hard to accomplish the cause of national reunification without fail true to the noble intention of President Kim Il Sung who made every effort to achieve the reunification of the country.

The publication of the declaration made it possible for the movement of the Korean nation for reunification to advance straightly along the orbit of independence with a clear-cut goal and principles both in name and reality and rapidly develop into a nation-wide struggle involving all the fellow countrymen.

After providing the historic June 15 joint declaration and bringing about a landmark phase of national reunification Kim Jong Il wisely led the struggle for implementing the joint declaration, and thus performed great exploits to always shine in the country's history.

The reporter underscored the need for all Koreans in the north and the south and overseas to give further momentum to the struggle for preserving and implementing the north-south joint declarations.

Neither dialogue nor contact would be thinkable nor improved north-south relations could be expected without the implementation of the inter-Korean joint declarations, the reporter noted, stressing the need for the fellow countrymen in the north and the south and overseas to firmly unite as one under the banner of patriotism for reunification and open up new avenue for independent reunification.

The reporter called upon all the fellow countrymen to turn out in the struggle to shatter the war moves of the Lee Myung Bak group serving as shock brigade in the moves for "sanctions" against the DPRK following the U.S. policy for stifling it regardless of the destiny of the nation and to defend peace and security of the Korean Peninsula after withdrawing the U.S. troops from south Korea.
