Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) held a press conference in Seoul on June 12 denouncing the Lee Myung Bak group for its moves to escalate the confrontation with the DPRK. The KCTU accused the Lee "government" of recently working hard to build up public opinion over "the security crisis" aimed to achieve a political purpose and insisting on the policy of confrontation with the DPRK. Recalling that the authorities are taking the lead in putting pressure and sanctions on the north, the organization branded this as treachery and a reckless act of posing a threat to the peace on the Korean Peninsula. It urged the Lee "government" to drop its hostile policy toward the DPRK and opt for implementing the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, improving the inter-Korean relations and achieving national reconciliation and cooperation. If the authorities persistently sidestep the demand of the people, the KCTU will turn out in the struggle to force the Lee regime to step down, the organization warned. |
