Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration in south Korea made public a statement on June 14 in denunciation of the Lee Myung Bak group's suppression of the chairman of the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon).
Recalling that the police authorities arrested Ri Hui Chol, chairman of the 8th-term Hanchongryon, on the charge of violation of the notorious "National Security Law" on June 13, the statement said:
Ri Hui Chol is a patriotic youth desirous of reunification who dauntlessly struggled for implementing the June 15 joint declaration and achieving independence, democracy and reunification, though he had been wanted by the police for several years.
The arrest of him goes to prove that the Lee Myung Bak regime is a dictatorial regime denying the June 15 joint declaration and the independent reunification and trying to bedevil the inter-Korean relations and obliterate democratization of society.
The Lee regime should clearly see what the nation and the south Korean people want, set free Ri at once, abrogate the NSL going against the June 15 era and step down.
