Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- Mass rallies took place in cities and counties of the DPRK to denounce the United Nations Security Council's "resolution on sanctions" cooked up at the instigation of the U.S. imperialists. Speakers at the rallies branded the said resolution as a criminal act of posing an intolerable insult to the dignity of the Korean people and seriously violating the sovereignty of the DPRK. They declared that the army and the people of the DPRK would counter with resolute and annihilating blow any attempted blockade by the hostile forces including the U.S. imperialists, regarding it as an action of war. They stressed the need for the working class to direct primary efforts to the development of the defence industry and effect great innovation and a great leap forward in the production and construction by speeding up the new great revolutionary surge. They expressed the will to bring about a signal turn in the agricultural production by concentrating all efforts on farming true to the Workers' Party of Korea's policy of bringing about a radical turn in agriculture and contribute to improving the standard of people's living by accelerating the technological updating and increasing production at local industrial factories. Saying that science and technology represent the national strength and military power and the dignity of the country and the nation, they called on intellectuals to make great contribution to putting the nation's science and technology on the highest level. They also said that the youth and students would study hard to become reliable pillars of the country and make breakthrough in economic fields involving arduous labor and turn out as one to mercilessly punish the enemies if they dare pounce upon the DPRK. Attending the rallies were leading officials of local party and power organs and working people's organizations, servicepersons and people from all walks of life and youth and students. |
