Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- One day of April, Juche 86 (1997) General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the Mansudae Art Studio and stood for a while in front of the Korean painting "The Eight Fighters in Phohang". He was lost in thought, seeing through the features of the eight soldiers of Phohang numerous heroic fighters who performed proud merits shining in the history of the country by displaying their unparalleled bravery during the hard-fought Korean war. At last he praised highly the heroic fighting spirit of soldiers of the People's Army who willingly dedicated their lives for the Party, the leader, the motherland and the people in the period of the Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950 - July 1953) against U.S. invaders, and said the Korean painting was of a great significance in educating the servicepersons of the Korean People’s Army in a revolutionary way. He added that schools and universities should educate the students with the revolutionary and militant fine-art works and that they, seeing such fine-art pieces, would keep the heroic fighting features in their minds and would live and work in a revolutionary way in future, following the spiritual world of the former generation. The words vividly show his noble intention to bring the young people up to be true revolutionaries like the heroic fighters in the 1950s, whom the country knows and who live long in the hearts of the people. |
