Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- At least 10,000 Christians of south Korea made public a declaration on the situation on June 18. The declaration said that after Lee Myung Bak took office the achievements for democracy made by the people at the cost of blood were destroyed and the departed soul of dictatorship is swaggering about in south Korea and the peace of the Korean Peninsula is exposed to a grave threat. It branded the Lee Myung Bak "government" as brazen-faced political forces which always tell a pact of lies, justify the violent rule under the pretext of "security" and trample underfoot even the elementary democratic rights, a cruel "government" which drove the police into killing and refuses to repent of this, and a "government" turning aside the demands of the people. Expressing resentment at this deplorable reality, the declaration said that Christians would turn out in the struggle for democracy and human rights. It stressed the need to oust the forces threatening peace with confrontation and war moves from power. |
