Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- It has been 59 years since the Korean war was provoked by the U.S. imperialists. Minju Joson Thursday carries a signed commentary in this regard, which says: The war, which broke out on June 25, 1950, was a product of the U.S. imperialists' hostile policy towards the DPRK in every respect, and the Korean nation suffered the biggest damage running into astronomical figures from the war. The commentary cites data to disclose that the U.S. imperialists deliberately refused to implement the provisions of the Armistice Agreement signed by it and beefed up on a mass scale their armed forces in the Korean Peninsula in a desperate effort to provoke another Korean war and are nowadays pushing the situation of the peninsula to the brink of war. The whole process of history in the peninsula since 1950s clearly proves that the U.S. is the provocateur of war of aggression, the very one aggravating the tense situation of the peninsula and a cancer-like entity disturbing peace, the commentary says, and goes on: The U.S. forces should be withdrawn from south Korea without fail in order to ease the tension and ensure peace in the Korean Peninsula. The pullout of the U.S. forces is prerequisite to ensuring the detente and peace in the peninsula. It is thanks to the strong arms of the DPRK that peace is preserved in the peninsula though huge armed forces are standing in confrontation and the U.S. imperialists are persisting in the hostile policy towards the DPRK. The U.S., if it is really willing to ensure peace in the Korean Peninsula, should withdraw its aggression forces from south Korea before anything else, refrain from taking any military actions against the DPRK and roll back its hostile policy towards the DPRK. This is the key solution to the issue of the Korean Peninsula. |
