The chairman expressed his admiration at the feats performed by General Secretary Kim Jong Il in leading the Workers' Party of Korea for nearly half a century. He went on:

The party, army and people of the DPRK, united single-mindedly under the Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il, have firmly defended the sovereignty of the country and registered great achievements in building a great prosperous and powerful nation while foiling the evermore undisguised high-handed and arbitrary practices of the imperialists.

This is instilling conviction and courage into the progressive parties and people aspiring after justice, peace and independent development.

We always remember President Kim Il Sung for paying great attention to the struggle of the Malian people for independence and progress and extending disinterested support and encouragement to it and are pleased with the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries developing favorably day by day.
