Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- South Korean organizations made public statements on June 29 denouncing the Lee Myung Bak group's fascist suppression. The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions in a statement accused the police of forcibly taking away 16 leading members including the chairman of the south Korean Teachers Union (Jongyojo) who protested against the authorities' unreasonable crackdown on the participants in the movement for issuing declaration on the situation, adding that this clearly indicated Lee's violation of democracy has gone beyond danger line. What the teachers affiliated to Jongyojo protested in their declaration on the situation reflected their stand critical of Lee's self-righteous "state administration" and policy for stamping out the education and this has commanded sympathy among most of south Koreans, the statement noted. It urged the authorities to release the above-said arrestees and immediately retract the measures taken against those teachers who participated in the said movement. A statement released by the Solidarity for Progress of South Korea demanded the Lee Myung Bak "government" stop watching and suppressing the above-mentioned teachers and withdraw at once the unreasonable disciplinary steps against them and measures to indict them. A society of young people for implementing the June 15 joint declaration held in a statement that the authorities' arrest of the former chairman of the Seoul District Federation of University Student Councils under the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils who is a member of the society on June 24 is obviously an undisguised suppression of the movement of youth and students. The statement declared that the young people of this land would pool efforts with people from all walks of life desirous of democracy and wage an all-out struggle against the Lee Myung Bak regime in order to get the detainees released and frustrate the moves to intensify the suppression and have the "National Security Law" repealed. |
