Lee's Attempt to Mar Historic Significance of North-South Joint Declaration Blasted

Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- If the north-south relations are to be improved and the cause of the country's reunification is to be accomplished, it is necessary to thoroughly frustrate by the concerted efforts of the Koreans the criminal moves of the south Korean ruling forces to scrap the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration, negating them.

Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a signed article.

The Lee Myung Bak group is now revealing itself its true colors as a group of anti-reunification and confrontation-minded elements and a group of traitors to the nation by defiling the said joint declarations and playing down their historic significance.

The group's moves to negate and scrap the said joint declarations have reached the worst phase.

The gentries of the "Grand National Party" vied with each other to slander the joint declaration on June 15, the 9th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration. They let loose such a spate of vituperation that the historic Pyongyang meeting was the "talks that took place thanks to bribery" and played down the June 15 joint declaration as "no more than an event".

They also spread sheer rumors that the DPRK's nuclear activities were linked with the June 15 joint declaration by asserting that the "north conducted a nuclear test" in the wake of the publication of the declaration.

The Lee group labeled the former regimes involved in adopting the joint declarations "leftist regimes" and the pro-reunification patriotic organizations and people supporting the joint declarations "leftist forces," pushing the inter-Korean relations to the worst crisis.

Not content with these moves, the group showed the sign of not ruling out even a war of aggression against the north, talking about the "invalidity" of the joint declarations.

Intolerable are the moves of the Lee group to mar the historic significance of the joint declarations as they are harmful to the independent development of the nation, the peace of the country and the cause of the country's reunification.
