An after-census technical committee was formed for the successful undertaking. It has worked out an action programme and timetable, selected a model area where people tantamount to one percent of the national population live and issued questionnaire and directives for census-takers and analysers.

A work was undertaken for training those selected in all provinces as census-taker and supervisor and organizational work and technical guidance for census and confirmation, the input and analysis of the data were made.

The after-census examined the mistake of the simultaneous census in counting the number of population, the relations with the householder, sexes, ages, final standard of education, marriage and other important matters of population information.

A section chief of the Population Centre Yang Song Il told KCNA that as the simultaneous census was done satisfactorily, the after-census drew a conclusion that the mistake in the number of population was negligible and the level of discord between question and answer of the census data was lower.

The negligible mistake in the number of population, he went on, is thanks to the establishment of a well-arranged resident registration system in the country, the government's measure to restrict population move for the time being before and after the simultaneous census and the selection of those who are engaged in registration and management of population as census-taker.

The high standard of responsibility of the census-takers and respondents and strict investigation according to the questionnaire lowered the level of discord between question and answer remarkably.

Now the second simultaneous census is on progress at the final stage.
