Expounded in the work as a definite logic are such problems as easing the military tension and taking practical measures to remove the source of war in the country, achieving the great national unity through a transcendence of the differences in ideology, ideals and systems and struggling under the banner of independence to get the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea and frustrate the Japanese militarists' scheme of reinvading south Korea.

More than 30 years have passed since the publication of the work but the validity and vitality of the idea and theory laid down in it are being proved more strikingly as the days go by.

The three principles of national reunification are a charter for reunification common to the Korean nation that should be consistently held fast to until the reunification is achieved, no matter how the situation and circumstances may change.

The emotion-charged June 15 era of reunification is a precious fruition of the wise leadership provided by Kim Jong Il to implement the said three principles to the letter.

The Korean nation's reunification movement is now undergoing trials and difficulties. However, the three principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity remain as the everlasting fundamental cornerstone for national reunification, brightly showing the road ahead of the movement for national independent reunification.
