The statement referred to the fact that the students including members of the south Korean Federation of University Students in the 21st Century called a press conference in demand of a solution to the issue of the university registration fee on the same day.

Instead of accepting the demand, the authorities walked off Ri Won Gi, chairman of the federation, and committed such fascist outrage as firing volleys of tear gas on the protesting students, it charged.

The statement urged the authorities to immediately stop all sorts of repression of the youth and students in the just struggle and set free at once Ri Won Gi who has worked for solution to the registration fee issue.
