Brisk Water Sports Activities

Pyongyang, July 21 (KCNA) -- The DPRK, a maritime country, has set July and August as months for water sports activities. In the months maritime physical culture and sports activities are being conducted in an intensive way. Educational institutions are intensifying swimming lessons and extracurricular swimming activities. In the current period for water sports Pyongyang City has taken measures to supply water preferentially to the school swimming pools and is exerting efforts to swimming lessons for students at the already built swimming pools in different parts of the city. Swimming contests are being widely held in Kangwon, North Phyongan, South Hamgyong and other provinces, cities and counties. Colorful maritime physical culture activities including the work of judging swimming ability of teachers and students according to their ages are getting brisk. Meanwhile, swimming is encouraged in the country. All the necessary conditions are provided so the working people may take part in water sports activities without exception. Amid the care of the government, the Majon recreation resort and the Songdowon sea-bathing resort have been renewed beyond recognition and the Sariwon open-air swimming pool has been built to improve the general conditions for water sports activities and raise the enthusiasm of the masses. The swimming pools, sea beaches and rivers are crowded with working people and school youth and children these days. |
