Anniversary of Victory in War Marked

Pyongyang, July 21 (KCNA) -- A meeting with Hero of the Republic Pak Chan Su, lecturer at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, was held at the Women's Hall Tuesday on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War. Officials and members of the Democratic Women's Union of Korea at the meeting with the hero recollected the days of the war during which the army and people of the DPRK defeated the U.S. imperialist aggressors under the leadership of Supreme Commander Kim Il Sung, exalting the dignity of the country. Pak recalled that the officers and men of the Korean People's Army wiped out the U.S. imperialists and their stooges in the war they ignited in a bid to stifle the young Republic in its cradle, thus honorably defending the country and revolutionary gains. Kim Il Sung went as far as the forefront, indicating unique war methods and taking deep care of the living of the soldiers, the hero noted, adding that his warm love served as a source of strength that encouraged them to display unrivaled courage in every battle. Pointing out that the army and people of the DPRK could achieve shining victory as they fought, guided by the outstanding military thought and unique Juche-oriented war methods indicated by the Supreme Commander, the hero declared the cause of building a great prosperous and powerful nation and achieving national reunification would be sure to be accomplished thanks to the leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Il. He sang the song "My Song in the Trench" together with members of the union. There was a performance by members of the art squad of the Central Committee of the union. Put on the stage were chorus "Beautiful Native Place", duet "The General Is Marksman and We Are Direct Hits" and solo "Peace Has Been Preserved by Our Army." |
