Which class or group of the society is taken as the main force of the revolution is a basic problem for the party leading the revolution to strengthen revolutionary forces and triumphantly carry out the cause of the popular masses for independence.

The preceding revolutionary theory, on the basis of the analysis of the social and class relations in the then developed capitalist countries, defined the working class as the main force of the revolution. It had long been regarded as an inexorable law.

As the social and class relations and the balance of forces change according to the progress of the times and the development of the reality, the question of the main force in the revolution cannot remain invariable.

The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) has put up the people's army as the main force of revolution on a scientific analysis of its characteristics and role.

The revolutionary army is made up with fine core members, the vanguard fighters, among the laboring classes and strata such as workers, peasants and intellectuals and stands at the outpost of the serious and acute armed struggle. It, therefore, is the collective strongest in revolutionary spirit and fighting strength.

The revolutionary army with organization and discipline, attributes of the armed ranks, as its life and soul cannot be matched by any other collectives of the society in the revolutionary spirit, the united might and the combat capacity.

The revolutionary idea and spirit of the revolutionary army which has been consolidated in struggle are the main source making it play a vanguard and active role in the socialist construction, too.

The WPK has resorted all along to an energetic Songun revolutionary leadership from the 1960s. It has clarified the law of developing revolutionary cause which is pioneered and advanced in reliance upon the leading and pivotal role of the revolutionary army and opened up a new chapter of the socialist politics depending on the might of the army.

The validity and vitality of the Songun politics of the WPK are being displayed to the full in the revolutionary practice.
