Pyongyang, July 30 (KCNA) -- Leading newspapers Thursday editorially observe the 63rd anniversary of the promulgation of Law on Sex Equality by President Kim Il Sung. Rodong Sinmun says: The promulgation of the law helped the Korean women completely free themselves from all sorts of feudal shackles, political non-rights and social fetters. This made it possible for them to perform their role as part of the driving force of the country in the political, economic, cultural and all other fields of the revolution and construction with equal rights with men. The Korean women have witnessed shining progress of the revolutionary women's movement under the care of the three commanders of Mt. Paektu. The Korean women's movement was kicked off with the formation of the Anti-Japanese Women's Association by Kang Pan Sok under the guidance of the President in his early days. The precious tradition and historical roots of the Korean women's movement were provided by Kim Il Sung in the crucible of the anti-Japanese struggle. He personally worked out and promulgated Law on Sex Equality in the wake of the founding of the Democratic Women's Union of Korea after liberation, thus realizing the long-cherished desire of the women. He comprehensively clarified the position and role of the women in his famous proposition that they are a powerful force who push one of the two wheels on the same axle of the chariot of the revolution for the first time in history. Anti-Japanese heroine Kim Jong Suk energetically led the women's movement to consider it as a lifeline to fully ensure the idea and leadership of the President. This was the most precious exploit performed by her in developing the Juche-oriented women's movement. General Secretary Kim Jong Il has firmly defended and upheld the President's idea of the Juche-oriented women's movement and the exploits performed by him in it and exerted great efforts for the development of the women's movement in every period and stage of the revolution and construction. It was Kim Jong Il who made sure that the precious tradition of the Korean women's movement established in the crucible of the anti-Japanese revolution was given steady continuity and energetically led the organizations of the women's union to creditably perform their missions and roles as organizations for political and ideological education. The glorious history of the above-said movement and its stirring reality today would be unthinkable without the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il and his meticulous care. Incomparably noble are the ideological and moral traits of the Korean women in the era of Songun led by him. Minju Joson calls upon all the women to more dynamically wage the all-out charge for building a thriving nation full of faith in sure victory and optimism and thus demonstrate the revolutionary spirit of the Korean women grown up under the care of the President and Kim Jong Il. |
