Kim Jong Il Provides Field Guidance to Pyongyang Textile Mill
Pyongyang, July 30 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the updated Pyongyang Textile Mill Thursday on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the promulgation of the historic Law on Sex Equality.

He first went round the monument to the on-the-spot instructions of President Kim Il Sung and the monument to his field guidance, a room for the education in the revolutionary history and a room devoted to the history of the mill.

Seeing valuable historic relics and mementoes, he said that the Korean people would always remember the profound loving care and benevolence of the President.

He said that the core of the thoughts and practice of the President in his life was the spirit of absolute devoted service to the people, underscoring the need for the officials to always bear this lofty intention of the President deep in their minds and fully embody it in their work and life.

He then made the rounds of the general spinning shop, the knitting thread shop, the general dyeing shop, the compound covered with green foliage of various species of trees and other places of the mill for hours to learn in detail about the modernization and production at the mill.

It is an admirable success that the workers of the mill successfully carried out the modernization by their own efforts and with their own technology at a time when they were hard pressed for everything and established cultured ways in production and life, he noted. He highly appreciated their feats and extended thanks to all the officials, workers and technicians of the mill.

He met with a weaver Jon Ok Hwa, a spinner Kim Pok Sil, the head of a shop Ri Myong Ok, all labor heroines who have worked at the mill for years and weavers Mun Kang Sun and Ri Myong Sun and spinners Sonu Ok and Han Chol Ok, young labor innovators, and highly praised their patriotic devotion and gave them warm pep talks.

Never before have women had their fame and worth glorified as the women in the era of the Workers' Party did, he said, adding that this epoch-making change that has taken place in the position and role of the Korean women clearly proves that the women strong in revolutionary character and militancy have grown to be a powerful force dynamically pushing forward the revolution and construction.

He set forth important tasks to be fulfilled by the mill.

Noting that it is an unshakable resolution and will of the Party to provide the people with better clothes, he underlined the need to bring about a fresh turn in solving the problem of clothing by exerting great efforts for the production of textile.

One can witness a high-pitched drive for effecting a great revolutionary surge at every factory and the country is advancing at an exceptionally high speed thanks to the drive, he said, stressing that the day of the victory in the drive for building a great prosperous powerful nation is drawing nearer thanks to the unprecedented great advance of all the people and servicepersons.

Now when a great turn is taking place is the time for all the domains and all the units to forge ahead vigorously toward the finish line, he noted, calling on all the servicepersons and people to make a great leap forward by dint of their single-minded unity.

He was accompanied by Secretary of the C. C., the WPK Kim Ki Nam and Department Directors of the C.C., the WPK Kim Kyong Hui and Pak Nam Gi.
