Anti-Reunification Remarks of GNP Gentries Flayed
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification of south Korea issued a statement on July 28 to denounce the group of the "Grand National Party" for its anti-reunification remarks.

The statement recalled the organization carried an article titled "Let us bring about a 'peace agreement on the Korean Peninsula to get the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea' by the efforts of all the people" in the newspaper Hangyore on July 27.

As regards this, the group of the GNP let loose a spate of vituperation that the peace agreement asserted by the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification only represented the "north's stand" and that "preceding governments supported such people", it noted, adding that this is a typical anti-reunification offensive of the GNP. The above-said claim made by the GNP on the charge that their assertion was identical to the north's is nothing but a far-fetched assertion, it declared.

The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification has worked hard to disclose the aggressive nature of the south Korea-U.S. "alliance" and demanded the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea through its independent activities, not blindly following other's assertions, it charged.

It urged the group of the GNP to own its responsibility for having defamed the honor of the organization with all sorts of vituperation and make an official apology for this.

If the group refuses to meet this demand, they will take legal and political countermeasures, it warned.
