Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- More than 80 progressive organizations including the Federation of Homogeneous Nation Movement Organizations of south Korea held a meeting for making a history of national independence in Seoul on July 29 104 years after the fabrication of the "Taft-Katsura Agreement," a product of the criminal conspiracy between U.S. and Japanese aggressors. At the meeting, the speakers recalled that the U.S. and Japan held talks in camera 104 years ago at which the agreement which allows Japan to occupy Korea was signed. The Koreans still remember that day in order to harden their resolution and will not to allow themselves to suffer the same insult and disregard by outside forces as they did in the past, they declared. They lashed out at Japan for getting evermore undisguised in its ambition to stage a comeback to Korea, far from making an apology for its crimes, though more than a century has passed since then. They called upon all Koreans in the south and the north and abroad to unite and achieve the country's reunification without fail, guided by the idea of "By our nation itself." They underscored the need for them to preserve independence of the nation, not yielding to pressure and blackmail by any "big power." They called upon all the compatriots to turn out in the struggle to defend the sovereignty of the nation and foil Japan's moves to revive militarism. They urged the U.S. to stop at once patronizing Japan and actions to invade other countries. Civic and public organizations said that they would declare the period till November 17, the day of the fabrication of "Ulsa Five-point Treaty", as a period of the movement for making a history of national independence and launch an anti-U.S. and anti-Japanese struggle. |
