Paternal Love for Water Sports Bases
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- Well-furnished bases for water sports have been arranged in different parts of the DPRK.

At the beach resorts and swimming and paddling pools furnished with modern sports facilities, the working people and school youth and children are deeply touched by the great love of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Covering an energetic long journey of field guidance day and night in defiance of the midsummer heat, he has paid deep attention to the work for making the people enjoy swimming to their heart's content in summer days so as to have high pride of living in a maritime country.

Saying that everyone should swim as Korea is bounded on three sides by the seas, he saw to it that swimming and paddling resorts have been built in seas, rivers and lakes of the country and indicated detailed ways for their construction.

He also took measures to build lots of swimming pools in institutions, industrial establishments, schools and districts, too, noting that swimming should be encouraged throughout the country.

While giving field guidance to the swimming complex newly built at Kim Il Sung University this year, he earnestly instructed officials that as swimming was good for health and physical training of the people, it should be encouraged extensively and students be given good swimming lessons to be good swimmers.

Peculiar bathing resorts have been arranged in scenic spots on the seashore including Songdowon, Majon, Thongchon and Monggumpho and swimming and paddling pools built in different places of Pyongyang and local areas to provide the people with good conditions for their water sports.

Vast beaches and reconstructed shower cubicles, diving boards and service facilities add pleasure to the people enjoying holidays.

Having set July and August as months for water sports the government provides full conditions for physical culture and sports activities, with the result that the ranks of swimming addicts are ever increasing.
