Present there were Choe Chang Sik, minister of Public Health who is chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association, Jon Yong Jin, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, Kim Hae Ryong, vice-president of the Grand People's Study House, officials in the fields of education and media and scientists and technicians.

It was also attended by the delegation of the Association for Promotion of Development of Chinese Culture led by Bao Lixian, director of the Project Planning Department, the delegation of the Shanghai Association for International Friendly Contact of China headed by Vice-Chairman Lu Dilong, the delegation of the Liaoning Provincial Association for International Friendly Contact led by Standing Vice-President Hu Fengwei, the delegation of Jilin University of China led by Vice-President Li Yulin, Charge d'Affaires ad Interim Hao Xiaofei and staff members of the Chinese embassy here.

Kim Hae Ryong said that the Chinese people have achieved many successes under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with Hu Jintao as its general secretary.

Noting that the friendly relations between the DPRK and China provided by the revolutionaries of the elder generation continue to develop favorably, he expressed the belief that these relations would grow stronger in the future, too.

Bao Lixian referred to the fact that the exchange and cooperation are brisk in all fields between China and the DPRK under the deep care of the top leaders of the two countries.

He hoped that the Korean people would achieve greater successes in building a great prosperous and powerful nation while making big progress in the spirit of self-reliance and fortitude under the wise leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Hao Xiaofei expressed belief that the Sino-DPRK friendship would grow stronger thanks to the concerted efforts of the two parties, two governments and two peoples.

The participants of the event looked round books and data on science and technology displayed by different organizations of China.

An agreement on exchange and cooperation in the field of education between Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering and Jilin University of China was signed at the end of the event.

The Central Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association and the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries gave a reception at Pyongyang Koryo Hotel to mark the day.
