Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- Products of the Pyongyang Carpet Factory are drawing interests of many people at home and abroad. The factory, with a long history of carpet production, is producing various kinds of hand-woven carpet, machine-woven carpet and others to suit the world trend. It is located in Sosong District of Pyongyang. Pak Won Chol, director of the factory, said in an interview with KCNA to the following effect: The factory is making silk carpet good for health and longevity which the Korean ancestors had long used and wool carpet giving comfortable feeling. It produces various patterns and sizes of silk carpet and wool carpet, typical hand-woven carpets, in accordance with the tastes of the customers. It also produces on orders hand-woven tapestries reflecting landscapes, figures, animals and so on with some patterns and colors. The biggest hand-woven carpet is 20 meters long and 17 meters wide and made with sheep's hair of New Zealand and Australia. Patterns and colors of the 4-meter-wide carpet knitted by spool-gripper Axminster carpet loom is very suitable for meeting hall, reception room, bedroom and the like, for which its domestic demand is ever increasing. Most of the carpets used by the Pyongyang Koryo Hotel and others at home are the products of the factory. Some products are also well received by foreign countries. Various countries such as China, Hong Kong and Kazakhstan are proposing trade relations concerning a series of carpet products with it. |
