The statement accused the Lee Myung Bak conservative forces of totally negating the north-south declarations, pushing the situation on the Korean Peninsula, which had developed in favor of reconciliation and cooperation and the reunification of the country, to the worst crisis and frantically intensifying the crackdown upon the pro-reunification patriotic forces.

The statement demanded the south Korean regime immediately repeal the "National Security Law", an anti-reunification law, stop at once the suppression of the pro-reunification patriotic forces and release patriotic figures.

Obstacles and hardships are still lying in the way of Korea's reunification due to the Lee conservative forces' moves, the statement noted, adding that the Korean people are sure to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country thanks to the precious legacy left by President Kim Il Sung for the accomplishment of the cause of national reunification and the outstanding Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il.

It called upon all the progressive people of the world to resolutely reject the moves of the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean anti-reunification forces to scrap the June 15 north-south joint declaration and express full support and solidarity with the Korean people in their struggle to defend the sovereignty of the country and ensure peace and security on the peninsula.
